One of the oldest mountain bike centres, yes we were here in the 80’s when John Craven of Newsround fame opened the trails! It was one of the first dedicated Mountain Bike hire centres, in the steading here at Mabie forest. The trails were mainly on existing roads but already a few locals had scratched out some good lines. It would be many years until the 7 Stanes Project was to develop its world beating all weather trails but back then it was all the bikes (and riders) could cope with.

With near 30 years of association with Mountain Bikers locally and it’s growing  number of fans from the rest of the world, Mabie has become one of the “must ride” forests in the world. The existing trails are well fettled meaning true all year riding, with my personal favourite being winter night riding. The layout of the forest lends it’s self perfectly as routes are circular with many intersections allowing a freedom to make up a different route every time!
What goes around comes around, and here we are again, back at Mabie. (In fact how many people have said that?) And although much has changed in the world, Mabie still has that “welcome home” feeling. Now it has the full range from family routes to the Dark Side, hardest trail in Britain. As the trails have become more demanding so have the needs of its riders and so the Shed was reborn. Now with a full on Cafe’/Bistro with filling, fresh locally sourced food, ground Italian coffee, oh and don’t forget the log burning stove. Your  always  guaranteed a warm welcome!
